BC PNP issues invitations to candidates in key technology occupations

The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) issued 25 new invitations to apply for a provincial nomination in a tech pilot draw, which took place on July 4.

The invitations were issued to candidates who meet the BC PNP Tech Pilot eligibility requirements. Recently, the BC PNP upgraded its tech pilot by revising its key technology occupations list and modifying the job offer requirements for candidates in these occupations.

Based on recent updates to the pilot, candidates in the 29 occupations now require a full-time job offer of at least one year (365 days) rather than a permanent indeterminate offer (as previously required).

The BC PNP launched its Tech Pilot in 2017 to attract and retain skilled workers and international graduates of Canadian post-secondary institutions with skills required by the province's technology sector. The pilot has been extended to June 2019.

Candidates invited under BC's Express Entry-aligned streams, such as the EEBC - Skilled Worker and EEBC - International Graduate streams, obtain 600 additional points under the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) if their application for provincial nomination is approved.

Skills Immigration candidates with a successful nomination from the province will have their applications for permanent residence processed outside the Express Entry system.

Individuals interested in immigrating to Canada through the BC PNP must first submit an online profile with the BC PNP's Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS) and complete all components of the form.

Once a profile is assessed, applicants receive a score based on education, work experience, and other factors.

For more information on the eligibility criteria for the BC PNP’s categories, please see our dedicated BC PNP page.

The minimum scores for each category involved in the July 4 were as follows:
