Saskatchewan releases Entrepreneur Expression of Interest draws schedule

Draws scheduled for September 19 and November 21, 2018.

The Government of Saskatchewan has announced the dates for the next two Expression of Interest draws for entrepreneurs, which are scheduled to take place September 19 and November 21, 2018.

Foreign entrepreneurs interested in immigrating to Saskatchewan through its Entrepreneur sub-category are required to register in the SINP’s online application system and complete an EOI profile.

This sub-category is for individuals who wish put their management talent and capital to work in Saskatchewan by establishing, acquiring, or partnering in a business in the province.

Candidates are expected to take on an active management role in the business.

When submitting an EOI, candidates provide required information about their entrepreneurial experience, assets, and Business Establishment Plan (BEP), among other factors. Candidates who meet the minimum entry criteria will be accepted into the EOI candidate pool, where they are ranked in accordance with the sub-category’s points grid.

To be eligible, candidates must:

  • have CAD $500,000 at minimum in Net Business and Personal Assets;
  • have a minimum of three years of relevant business management or entrepreneurial experience gained in the past ten years; and,
  • intend to invest a minimum of CAD $300,000 in Regina and Saskatoon or a minimum of CAD $200,000 in all other Saskatchewan communities.

The Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) says candidates will be selected based on their ranking and the province’s nomination targets.

Candidates approved by Saskatchewan will be able to apply to the Government of Canada for a temporary work permit.

Candidates who fulfill the terms of their Business Performance Agreement (BPA) and operate their business for at least six months can then apply to Saskatchewan for a provincial nomination for permanent residence.

CORRECTION: This story originally said the Expression of Interest draws were for Saskatchewan’s Express Entry and In-Demand Occupations sub-categories. In fact, the EOI draws will be for the Entrepreneur sub-category.
