4 Canadian provinces invite candidates in latest PNP results
British Columbia, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Prince Edward Island have nominated candidates in the most recent Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw results.
Provinces nominate candidates through the PNP if they judge that the candidate will be able to integrate easily into the local workforce and contribute to the provincial economy. Receiving a PNP nomination means that a candidate has a much stronger application when they apply to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) for permanent residence.
Provinces can nominate candidates because immigration is a shared responsibility between IRCC and the provincial governments. Each year in the federal Immigration Levels Plan IRCC sets a target for the overall number of candidates who can become permanent residents through the PNP. The department further breaks this number down into allocations of nominations for each province. The number of PNP allocations a province receives depends on several factors such as the existing population and labour market needs.
Provincial immigration results December 19-29
British Columbia
On December 19, British Columbia issued invitations to apply for provincial nomination to 230 Skilled Worker and International Graduate candidates of the BC PNP.
Invitations were issued in four draws targeted for specific in-demand occupations.
The largest was a draw for tech occupations. The province invited 107 candidates with a minimum score of 95. There was also a draw for 32 candidates in a construction occupation with a minimum score of 75.
The remaining two draws invited 29 candidates in healthcare occupations and 62 early childcare educators and assistants. Both draws had a minimum score of 60.
Manitoba
Manitoba held the first of three Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) draws on December 21 for Skilled Workers Overseas. The province invited 1,113 candidates with a minimum score of 601.
The next took place on December 28 and invited candidates in three separate draws over three categories. The province invited 160 Skilled Workers in Manitoba with a close relative in the province. The relative must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident and have been living in Manitoba for at least one year. The minimum score for candidates in this draw was 612.
The province also invited 67 International Education candidates and 27 Skilled Workers Overseas with a minimum score of 698. Skilled Workers Overseas candidates were invited as part of a strategic recruitment initiative.
Finally, on December 29 the province issued 89 invitations to apply to candidates who met the criteria under the Special Measures for Ukraine. These candidates also met the criteria for Skilled Workers Overseas and have a close relative in Manitoba.
Saskatchewan
On December 27 Saskatchewan invited 63 candidates in the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP). It was the first SINP draw since October 23.
The province held draws in two categories including 48 Occupations-in-Demand candidates and 15 Express Entry candidates. In both draws, candidates needed a minimum score of 69 and Educational Credential Assessments.
Prince Edward Island
Prince Edward Island invited 26 candidates from the Labour and Express Entry streams of the PEI PNP. Candidates needed to be working in the healthcare, construction, and food processing sectors to be considered.
Three candidates with a minimum score of 92 were also invited from the Business Work Permit Entrepreneur category.
